Drawing hand

When one draws a drawing hand, it means that the hand has to improve into usually a straight or a flush with the help of upcoming cards and flops as it would be a losing one otherwise.

Fourth Street

The term fourth street refers to the fourth community card that is deal in poker versions that has flops while it refers to the fourth card dealt to individual players in stud games.

Kicker

The term kicker is an important component of poker's glossary as it refers to a card that all players receive often. Kicker cards are the highest unpaired cards that one has and they are, most of the time, the determining factor as to who wins the pot.

River

Like the term fourth street, river also refers to a card dealt to the players though it refers to the last one that is dealt in a particular round.

Short-handed

When a game is said to short-handed, it simply means that the game has fewer players than normal and it is best that such games take in additional players for the betterment of the game play.

These poker terms are all important for any player's mental glossary as they refer to the numerous aspects of the game making being unfamiliar with far too many of them a terrible disadvantage.
